My name is Teemu, and I'm the CEO and founder of Wølpakka. I wanted to personally share how this whole thing came to life somewhere between the Andes, a severed finger, and Finland.

A few years ago, I was living in a small village high up in the Andes, surrounded by towering peaks and unpredictable weather. Time didn’t feel linear up there. It felt like childhood summers: you woke up, stepped outside, and just went wherever the day took you.

It was there I discovered alpaca wool. Warm, breathable, soft as hell and it didn't disappoint, whether hiking, working or hammocking

One morning, while building a sauna (I’m that Finnish!) on a local farm, I had a nasty run-in with a circular saw and cut badly my ring-finger. Finger was basically hanging by a skin inside my glove.

No hospitals nearby, no ambulances, not even a neighbor with a working car. I had to hitchhike to the nearest town with a severed finger and a bottle of local pisco for pain relief.

The injury was severe enough that I had to be flown back to Finland building my finger back.

While recovering, it came clear to me that I wanted to get back. This childlike craving for freedom had left its mark but I was broke as hell, so I couldn't just go like that.

IDEA Toipumisen aikana mulle kirkastui yksi asia: haluan palata.

Since entrepreneurship was the reason I ended up in Peru in the first place, I
Idealistically thought that now is a great time to put my skills to work, make my own way back, and build a business as I go.

But oh fuckin boy, I can tell you that starting a clothing business without money, knowledge, or connections proved to be exactly as hard as it sounds.

I can honestly say I wouldn't do this a second time if I knew what was ahead, but that's the beauty of being young and naive and, most importantly, not listening to anyone telling you how hard it will get. And I guess that is the secret of entrepreneurship.

We are now in 2026, 7 years after my travels, and yet I haven't visited the village. But lately, after all the hard work, fucking billions of mistakes, generational debt to the bank and to every lunatic that has ever given money to me, we are finally starting to see the fruits of our labor.

And as it seems, next year, I finally get to travel back to where it all started! And when I get back, I'm gonna have the tallest glass of Pisco you can imagine!

Whether you’re brand new here or you’ve been with us for a long time, I just want to say a massive thank you for being a part of this. And whatever naive, crazy adventures you’re chasing in your own life, I wish you all the luck and success in the world!
