Moisture wicking, not absorbing.

A person sitting outdoors on a log in a forest setting, wearing dark green heathered socks with a yellow mountain graphic and blue upward arrows, paired with brown hiking boots on a gravel path.

Merino wool absorbs over 30% of its weight in water -alpaca sits at just 8–10%. Thanks to natural hollow air pockets, alpaca’s hygroscopic moisture transfer is ridiculously effective.

Even if you step directly into a bog, the minimal moisture absorption keeps your feet dry & massively reducing blisters, chafing, and cold feet.

Dries insanely fast, even when nothing else will

We’ve all been there: a damp tent, 150% humidity, and zero dry gear left. Pure fun, right? From experience, this is the one thing your hiker buddies will be truly jealous of, alpaca socks dry shockingly fast, even in harsh conditions.

For many, that means a lighter pack and way easier gear management when the weather turns, well, nordic.

3

Warm when it's cold, cool when it's hot

Alpaca's hollow fiber structure creates next-level thermal regulation. Research shows that alpaca fiber is up to 30% hollower in structure than merino wool.

This unique structure drives dynamic temperature regulation, keeping your feet comfortable anywhere between +30°C and -25°C.

4

No odor - No laundry

Like other wools, alpaca naturally resists bacteria, it’s just ridiculously good at it. The main reason is its incredibly smooth fiber surface and low moisture level, which make it almost impossible for bacteria to attach and thrive.

You can wear the same pair for weeks with zero stink, just air them out overnight. Rotate 6 pairs, and your sock laundry drops to 6 times a year

Highest quality fiber & Made in Europe.

Our raw materials always come directly from the Peruvian Andes, where alpacas live semi-wildly. We can verify the origin of our wool down to the exact mountain region where the alpacas grazed.

Production takes place in Finland and Lithuania with carefully selected factories that have the skill to create high-performance socks while paying fair wages and taking full responsibility for the environment and local communities.

People Who Wear It, Keep It.

Miika

""I soaked these socks on purpose along with a regular pair just to see if your marketing claims were true. And they were. The alpaca socks dried noticeably faster. They don’t feel like traditional wool socks at all, they're extremely comfortable and don’t make your feet sweat at all. Even my geocaching friends swear by them.""

  • Raita

Sami

""Guess if I’ve worn any other socks since? Nope. One pair for work, one for the gym, one for home. Just waiting for my next payday so I can order more.""

Miroslav

"The best socks I've ever had. Everything is as you said and described. They are very comfortable and after 30 km of hiking I didn't feel any chafing from the boots. Other brand socks are no longer an option for me. Only and always Wølpakka."

Peter

"I have been using merino socks for more than a decade, so was really surprised by the performance of the Wolpakka’s alpaca version. Perfect fit, comfortable to wear - no itching, super drying capability even while wearing in the boots, and by the way while keeping the feet warm. Amazing long durability (test is now on second week without washing - and no smell yet)"

Martin

""Absolutely the best socks I've ever had. I'm a Formula 1 photographer, so I appreciate these in difficult conditions and a lot of heavy walking. Also at home I don't want to wear anything else.""

Catherine

""Ordered just one pair to try and was immediately impressed - never too warm, never too cold. So I quickly ordered six more pairs!""

Robert

""I never thought I would wear anything but merino socks. Then I tried these — now I have 4 pairs for myself, 3 for my wife and 3 more on the way. Simply the best socks ever.""

Janne

""Over a hundred kilometers of hiking plus everyday wear all summer long. The whole summer with just one pair. The durability is top-notch, where a regular sock wears down and gets holes, this one just keeps going and going.""

Your Questions, Answered Simply

Why is it more expensive than a regular hoodie?

Because they aren’t regular socks.

Wølpakka alpaca/polyamide intimate fiber blend makes them warmer, lighter, and more durable than any standard wool or cotton socks. They also resist odors and don’t need frequent washing, so you end up wearing them way more, for much longer.

Will it feel itchy like regular wool?

No.

Alpaca fibres are smoother than sheep’s wool and don’t contain lanolin, which sometimes causes irritation. Most people can wear it directly on skin without any issue.

My size is between two options – which one should I choose?

Go with the smaller size. Alpaca socks naturally mold to your feet over time, giving you a snug and secure fit. If the sock is too large, the heel may sit loose or bunch up – and that’s no good whether you’re walking, working, or exploring outdoors.

We recommend measuring your foot length and comparing it with our size chart to find the best fit. A well-fitted sock performs better, lasts longer, and simply feels right.

Does it smell after multiple wears?

Not easily.

Alpaca naturally resists odor, so you can wear it for a long time before it needs washing. Most of the time, airing it out is enough.

Some people have wore our socks months without washing.

Can I wear it year-round?

Yes.

It keeps you warm in the cold, but stays breathable when temperatures shift. Works on its own or layered, depending on the season.

How do I wash and care for it?

Wash it on a wool cycle at 30°C with a mild detergent.
Air dry only.

But you won’t need to do this often.

Is alpaca better than merino wool?

Your answIn nearly every core function of wool, alpaca outperforms merino. It contains more microscopic air pockets within each fiber, which improves insulation without added weight. Compared to merino, alpaca wicks moisture more efficiently and absorbs significantly less water, meaning it dries faster and keeps you feeling dry during activity. It also naturally resists odours and is hypoallergenic – alpaca contains no lanolin, so it’s safe for those with wool sensitivity or allergies.

And because alpacas tread lightly – both literally and ecologically – their fiber is among the most sustainable on the planet: low water use, low impact grazing, and no harsh chemical treatments.

Unlike merino sheep, which are farm animals, alpacas are native to their environment and live in balance with the Andean ecosystem.
